ComicRack 0.9.151 released

This build adds support for some additional meta data requested by the community. The new fields are:

  • Story Arc
  • Series Group
  • Main Character or Team
  • Review

The new fields are supported throughout the application (edit, copy & paste, browser, smart lists). The Android application does currently not display these new fields, but will after one of the next updates.

This version also lays the ground for future data editing on the Android client and syncing the info back to ComicRack. You will also need the latest version for ComicRack for Android from the market for syncing to work properly.

Additionally a stupid bug in the webcomics parser, that broke "FreakAngels", has been fixed.

ComicRack 0.9.149 released

This release brings big changes and new options for the WebComic engine. All the new stuff is documented in the wiki about WebComics. This build also fixes a critical bug when saving complex smart lists.

As usual, for all the changes see the download link. You can comment on the new version here.

Speaking of WebComics: additionally to all the ready made WebComics there is now a script available in the WebComics section of the User Forum that basically allows to create comics from almost every comic website (Mangas, strips etc.). Give it a try. Best of all, if you have the Android client you can also synchronize these WebComics to your Android mobile or tablet and read them offline.

And don't forget to jump into the User Forum and meet lots of like minded fellow Rackers and Comic fans :)

4th Anniversary of comicrack.cyolito.com

Well, I missed it a few days, but the idea counts :)

Four years ago, ComicRack had outgrown its old blogspot home (and Google had turned off the page webspace I used to host the setup :)).

In these years, ComicRack and the community behind it has grown to something I would have never expected. Too many contributors to mention have added their valuable input and ideas. Manuals have been created, plugins and scripts have been written, WebComics created and fellow ComicRack users have been supported.

It still amazes me, when I think back, that all this started by some coder not satisfied with the available comic readers for his brand new windows tablet. There is some truth in the ancient saying "If you build it, they will come" :)

Currently this little, trusty server (with its occasional "internal server errors") servers about 500 GB data a month. It also supports the network sharing feature for ComicRack.

You can show your appreciation of all this by making a small donation to support this project, the server and keep the whole thing running for the years to come.

Also, one of the best scripts for ComicRack, the fabulous comic vine scraper now also has a donation option. Head over and show them your support.

The last years have been a thrill. What started as an experiment has really grown into something nice and valuable. Let us all continue this ride :)

ComicRack 0.9.148 released

Again a bugfix release.

This build fixes a problem with some jpeg files in the 32 bit version of ComicRack. Hopefully this solves all problems of ComicRack not beeing able to display some eComics.

Also from now on ComicRack checks the version of the Android client to not having to support old versions (yes, sometimes I shuffle stuff around internally :)).
