Looks like there has been a new major release off Mono ( 2.4 ).
Anything new in it to help ComicRack on Linux? |

Be proud - your wonderful program is the only thing keeping me from switching to Linux full time

I would assume the latest dev builds play nicer tho, cYo wasnät kidding with the 400% speed increase in some cases since he moved to IronPython, CR runs flawlessly fast now on my machine, where it would chug at times before.

Everytime you click an ad, a cYo gains its wings.

the speed increases have nothing to do with IronPython. IronPython is just used for the scripts. ComicRack itself is written in c#.
Speed increased come from: * finetuning file cache * much better workload sharing on multi processor machines (the more processors the faster ComicRack is with creating thumbnails, loading pages) * switching over to 7z-engine for cbrs * General optimizing the hell out of it |

I have to admit that i love this program. I use mostly two or 3 computers to get my comics and i would love to be able to use this program on my netbook that is currently running lubuntu. I don't think that my netbook being that it is a first generation atom would be capable of even running xp through a virtual machine so that is out of the way. if someone could give me some instructions on how to do it with wine or even with mono itself it would greatly appreciated.

I have had no luck getting Comicrack to play with wine. I think it's because not all the .NET libraries are supported. Kinda gotta hope and wait for wine to catch up. Though wine has been making great strides in the past like 2-3 years. Some people say they are moving way too slow. Heck it can work with Starcraft 2 flawlessly. It certainly will one day be able to run more things like Comicrack I think it's just a matter of time. Unless the coder for Comicrack keeps upgrading the libraries to the current .NET version.
Though he started a port to Mono I was wondering what the progress of that is. |

A few years back, when I used Ubuntu exclusively, I tried everything to make ComicRack work on it.. The only thing that ran it in any usable form was VirtualBox. Try it..
