TOPIC: Best tablet?

The ExoPC looks fantastic and I'm going to buy one in September, mostly for ComicRack. I don't know if cYo is familiar with the ExoPC, but it has a nifty custom UI over the standard Windows 7 installation, to make it easier to navigate. Are there any plans to make a version of ComicRack that integrates with their UI?

The EXOPC UI will take a shortcut for any program you install, so there's no need for any work on cYo's part to make it "compatible." It already is.

And, yes, ComicRack is one of the main reasons I'm drooling with anticipation for the Slate as well. Set the thing up to access my network drives and blammo: 400GB (and growing) of comics in a 2-pound touchscreen PC. Bliss.

BlackBerry May Be Launching a Tablet This November

Blackberry’s plan to launch a tablet computer to rival the iPad has been speculated for quite some time now, but the speculations got affirmed when earlier this week Blackberry bought the domain BlackPad.com Many think that this will be the name for BlackBerry’s iPad rival.

Bloomberg cites some specific details of the device and claim that the launch is set for this fall. According to the report, the device would sport a 9.7 inch display and will offer WiFi and Bluetooth as connectivity options. No 3G connectivity has been plan for the device so the customers don’t have to way for an extra data plan. The device will also be able to tether with the Blackberry smartphones using the Bluetooth and use its data connectivity.

There are no further details or images out yet but it will be exciting to see if Blackberry can any unique features to steal iPad’s market share. There is specially some discussion around the type of keyboard BlackBerry would offer on its tablets. The brand doesn’t have a good track record with touch screen keypad on its phones, but on the other hand, a physical keyboard would probably kill the whole charm of a tablet. The device will also have front and back facing cameras to accommodate video conferencing features and will be priced around $499, the same as Apple’s iPad.

Copia 5-inch eBook Reader With Social Reading Capability At $99

Not long after Amazon announcement of its latest generation Kindle e-reader, Copia is ready to offer a much affordable color e-reader as a late entrance into this competitive market. Named as Wave5, it is dubbed to be the first and one of the most affordable color e-book integrated with ‘social reading’ suitable for all level of different users.

As you can treat it as a combination of e-book reader with tablet PC, Wave5 is equipped with 5-inch color LCD panel rather than e-ink monochrome display panel found in most e-book readers. While its main feature is still focus on e-reading, but the manufacturer has able to differentiate itself from other competitors’ products with embedded social web services such as Facebook and Twitter. By having these, users will be able to share and recommend good reading materials to others without exiting existing e-book reading. That is not all, Copia has been supported well with its own e-book portal with more than 400,000 ebook titles (versus 650,000 titles from Amazon) available for purchase and download.

No actual availability yet but with its retail price set at $99, Copia is in great advantage for its low cost as one of the great companion that will hopefully trigger price slash on other competitors’ products to make the e-book reading solution much more affordable in short future.

Hello...a perfect one i found is the Lenovo S10-3T. And last I looked Walmart had it for 399.99.

It is perfect for reading my comic books on.

Its a 'netvertible'...meaning a netbook/tablet.

It has Windows 7, 250 GB, that you can upgrade to a larger drive if needed.

I moved all of my books onto it and its great. I was afraid i would need to use the magnifying glass (because it is a 10 inch screen) to read the world balloons and what not, but I have no trouble reading them and holding netbook in tablet mode in one hand.

It is the best alternative to the iPad i have seen with regards to functionality, versatility, and cost.

I will eventually upgrade to a full tablet when a PC version with more space is eventually created, but for now, the S10-3T is perfect.

This one looks very nice.
The main question from my experience is: how is the viewing angle in tablet mode? Are there color distortions?

The S10s are pretty puny as far as the plastics and stuff; just be aware.

I have had no problem with the viewing angle....I read it just as I would have a comic book...sitting on the couch, laying in bed, sitting outside.

The screen can get a bit glary when outside.

But not once have I been irritated by it. Well, its touchscreen, and sometimes when I go to flip the page (by flicking) i tap it which closes out of reading mode : P but thats my fault

I just bought a PanDigital e-Reader (available from BB&B and Kohl's) they run Android 2.0 and are hackable. Great little online community already. Cost is about $125 with rebate and coupons.

Now I'm trying to find a good Comic book reader. Comic mobi was 'recalled' for android and I thought that was going to be the end of my search. So far (with limited testing) I haven't found one I quite like (of course I'm spoiled because I compare them to CR)

Any suggestions?
