I am thinking of buying an HTC Desire, but i would like to be able to read some comics in my smartphone.
Anyone knows any app for android to read cbz/cbr files?? Or will i have to buy an iphone instead?? |

I have a Motorola Droid, and I use Android Comics Viewer. It reads CBRs a little buggy, but CBZs work just fine, so I usually just add them to the phone using ComicRack's Export feature and convert any CBRs while doing so. It's a simple reader, no metadata functions. Not as lively an experience as ComicRack but it's free and does just fine as a reader.

... The failure to appreciate... is perfectly understandable, because the readership never evaluates old material in the context of the cultural climate in which it was created, or the state of the art at the time it was created.

I have been using ACV as well on my Samsung Moment and I highly recommend it, but I'll second only using CBZs (Android has no native RAR support, apparently they've hacked it in and it still has performance issues). Only nuisance - if you change the device orientation it reloads the current page. Great app though and pretty customizable.

Thanks for the reply.
Is it cool to read in this small screens?? Can you costumize the way the app shows the page like in CR?? |

Well...
i have bought the desire allready and love that app. For a mobile device it´s real cool. Even cbr files work fine. Not so good like the cbz's but still good. Good thing i have CR to convert my books. I recomend for everyone. Thanks for the info guys. |

ComicRack on the iPhone? Yikes! On the iPad? Maybe. But what would probably be the best use of development time (and more in line with cYo's sensibilities) would be an embedded web server for CR, one that exposes library management functionality. That way, every wireless device with a browser would be able to get basic things done on the go.
Meanwhile, I continue to pester the developers of iOS comic apps to support CR's XML metadata format... everyone seems to be coming up with their own ways of importing/naming/grouping issues and series, when there's a solid, practical, and most importantly, implemented solution right here. Hell, if I were an Android/WebOS developer, I'd be looking to score some bragging rights by implementing it first. |
