My feature request is about DJVU - I really would like ComicRack to support eBooks in the DJVU format...

I remember hearing about this but never checked it out. Seems promising since its Free and seems to offer pretty high compression. I'd be interested in seeing a comic compressed with DjVu, do you have any by chance?

Adding DJVU support would be awesome!
I would really appreciate it if this feature was added.
I use ComicRack all the time, mainly for comics and manga, but also for pdfs, ebooks etc.
I hate having to open my DJVU viewer to read a book/comic when comicrack is already there. Not to mention the DJVU readers have terrible functionality. So why not put it all into one?

It also means one less piece of software I would have to have on my machine - cause ComicRack would do everything I need for a DJVU file program.

I've only every seen eBooks in this format.

Many torrent sites offer comics in DJVU format. From what i've seen, Russian comics are predominantly in DJVU.

You are right though, DJVU is most common for ebooks.

Ahh, Russian comics. That would explain it. Russian book scanners are also very found of DJVU. Not that I can blame them, I LOVE the DJVU format for heavily illustrated ebooks.

You get a much quicker response rate and a much smaller file size using DJVU, it also has a fairly tiny footprint on the resource side of things.

That said, it's a rare format that is basically in direct competition with an already established format (.PDF's)
Making ComicRack support DJVU might be more hassle than cYo is willing to deal with, especially if he has never even heard of the format, which I wouldn't be surprised to hear is the case.
Making a program support .pdf is fairly well documented, it's been around for years and there are plenty of examples to pull from.
DJVU not so much, and in an odd move, the LizardTech people behind the DJVU format release most of their whitepapers in... .djvu! Meaning to learn about the insides of the format, you have to download a djvu viewer. Which is just one step too many for probably most all developers who just want to a quick glance at the insides to decide if they even want to fuck with it.

The last detractor for why you may never see DJVU support would be overhead.
As I understand it, ComicRack support .pdf for pretty much one reason, and on reason alone.
The big name comic publishers like to put out DVD's of their comics in .pdf
So having locallized support for the format in ComicRack makes sense, you reach a large audience that has thus far been restricted to pdf programs.
That support comes at a small cost, being overhead. By making ComicRack load all those bits of code and whatnot to read a .pdf correctly and show the insides, there is that much more for ComicRack to work through. Even if you never use .pdf.
So what you end up with is a little bloat, and slightly nerfed performance.
This would be the case with .djvu as well.
