Re:ComicVine user names
Well I've just signed up to the Comic Vine Website specifically to add lots of information that the Scraper hasn't found in my comics, but I have to say the site is a bit of a mess; I don't know what the opposite of "user friendly" and "intuitive" is, but Comic Vine is just that.
There is no easy way to input the information that ComicRack requires, just things like "Creator" "Story Arcs", "Concepts" and such - basic editing to input Writer, Penciller, Inker etc, if available, is very well hidden, if it exists at all. The FAQ is not a proper FAQ, it is just a video.
The whole site seems dedicated to costumed superheroes anyway, so if your tastes incline more towards less conventional fare, e.g. Sandman, Maus, Luther Arkwright etc, it doesn't look the most helpful.

Re: "Price" metadata field
I don't quite see the point - most comics have their price on the cover... and it would be different depending on which country the comic was bought in, so it would be difficult to standardise. I guess most of you would pay in Dollars and Cents, but some of us use pounds Sterling, others use Marks, Francs etc... would Manga have to have the price in Yen? Or perhaps you mean value? Though that would vary with time and from individual to individual.. No, the point of this one escapes me, I'm afraid...
(Though that is hardly a novel event!)

Re: Image Stats
I must say that I do like the idea of having information regarding the image quality; something like the DPI suggested would be better than something based on an arbitrary or subjective standard like simple user rating or even filetype.

Re:PC Performance
marc90125:
"I installed ComicRack on an old Dell OPTIFLEX GX270 P4 2.8GHz"
Old?
Thanks; that makes me feel
so
good about my own Dell OPTIFLEX GX270 P4 2.8GHz!
Seriously though, I have the same machine (and yes, it is a bit long in the tooth these days) but with 2g RAM and a library of a little over 4,000 files accessed from a 1Tb USB HD - and with absolutely no problem... so it would seem to indicate that the previous respondents are quite correct in identifying the problem as lying with your insufficient memory.
Truth is, even on an
OLD
machine like this (
Oh how your careless words have stung me!
) 256MB RAM is really insufficient to run modern software on XP.
Looks like you 'n' me are both due some upgrades!

Re:[SOLVED] Reordering Pages
I know that you have resolved the issue now, but if anyone comes against a similar problem - wouldn't the same thing result from trying to re-order a read-only file?

Re:Folder Icons
marc90125 - Well if you're not on Win7 (and I expect I'll give in to it sooner or later 600WPMPO!) Then MicroAngelo would be a good solution.
It'll work on all drives and can change all of the system icons that Microsoft still allows changes to - and a few other customisations - so your USB drive oughtn't to be a problem.
I've used it for years now; it's totally stable, efficient; I've never had problems with it.
You can also create/edit icons with it if you want!
In fact I have an icon of my avatar on this forum made with it (as well as an icon of myself to replace the MS Logo on the Start button!), by the simple expedient of importing a bmp image I'd previously made in PSP.

Re:ComicVine user names
Ah, I haven't got that far yet... the chapters in the manual don't have the same gripping cliffhangers as most of my CR collection... clearly more informative though.
Do you have a manual which will tell me how to get the best out of the manual?

Re:ComicVine user names
I looked in once or twice - once I'd discovered what a "Comic Vine Scraper" actually was... but I found the info very sparse. Can users add info? It would be handy to have a kind of reverse Comic Vine scraper where you could upload ecomic information to update their comic info.

Sharing Libraries
Hello there comrade comicniks. What a glorious piece of kit this ComicRack program is (go on, give the man some Karma for his efforts at least!) and the capability to share libraries is a great feature... however, whilst ComicRack appears to have many users, there does not appear to be an awful lot of sharing going on, and what sharing there is seems to be in the nature of people using the capability to access their own libraries from other computers.
My own library has been generally open to all... but one does get a little despondent when there is no reciprocation.
However, I do not wish to be petty - people may have their own valid reason for not sharing, but with the number of users I would have expected more than the three open libraries that have been sporadically available over the past 6 months or so - nevertheless, I have decided to still make my library available to read, but with no export function.
Anyone who wishes to obtain any of the ecomics GN's or TPBs I have is welcome to communicate with me and I will make it all available - on a quid pro quo basis, i.e. You show me yours and I'll show you mine!
As I said, doubtless people have their reasons - I have no wish to castigate - but it would be interesting to know why so few people elect to share their bounty.
p.s. Something of a non-sequitur in the circumstances I know, but... did Zenescope actually publish the last issue of "Stingers"?

Re:Background Textures from th ...
Here are a few background images that might tickle your fancy; the examples are just thumbnails, the actual images for the most part are larger than shown.
I gottem nicely packed up in a zipfile for anyone who fancies...
only the zipfile doesn't appear to have been successfully attached... oops... 120k limit? seems a little parsimonious... I guess I'll have to get back to you... I suppose the frenzied hordes of users desperate for these images will have to wait awhile...

marc90125: You might try MicroAngelo Icon Studio; it can add an "Appearance" option on the right-click menu on folders to select your desired icon.

Re:Folder Icons
That's curious... could it be the OS? I must confess that I still use XP as I loathe Vista with a passion... if that's not the issue then I guess I'm just going to have to try some experimentation. Thanks for the info.
p.s. Might I ask where you got those icons? They look pretty cool... (Though I suspect they are Vista icons!)

Folder Icons
I don't know if this can really be called a "bug" so much as a limitation of Comick Rack... but here goes anyway:
As someone who likes to customise my own pc setup in every way, and as I generally use Explorer to navigate windows rather than the Start Menu, I not only have background illustrations for all my explorer folders, but customised icons instead of those boring default yellow folder icons.
The problem is, I have found that Comic Rack will not scan any such customised folder with the "Scan eComic Folders" instruction or the auto-scan on startup. I need to use "Add Folder To Library" for every such folder - every time I add or amend comic files. This of course is highly impractical - is there any way to overcome this limitation?

Missing "List" Menu! Help!
HELP!! I cannot create any lists as I cannot find the appropriate buttons on the menu. The manual says they should be there, but (as the uploaded screenshot will show) I can't find 'em for the life of me! What am I doing wrong?
